why is Michael looking at the lighter when he lights Enzo's cigarette?|||Because Michael was playing it cool, and he was trying to get Enzo to focus on little things so he wouldn't dissolve into a bubbling terrified mess. Remember Enzo was just a simple working stiff, he was no mobster, and he knew that people were on their way to kill the Godfather and he was standing in the way.


Michael knew all this and accepted it, forcing Enzo to focus on the act of lighting his cigarette calmed him down... and also dudes smoking always look more bad*** than dudes not smoking especially in westerns and mob movies.|||This is the moment when Michael "becomes" the Godfather. Enzo is nervous and can't light his cigarette. Michael is calm and collected and lights it in one try. He is now the boss, in control, his father's powers have passed to him. next scene is his first command as the boss-to kill the police chief

I honestly never noticed Michael looking at the lighter unless it was because Enzo was so nervous he couldn't lite it %26amp; Michael light it on the first try.


The other had some good points but this was after the guys left so it wasn't to look tough Enzo was nervous about the situation.
